Did someone say PATIENCE? The capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.
Biblical Definition of Patience
The quality of forbearance and self-control shows itself, particularly in a willingness to wait upon God and his will. Believers are called upon to be patient in their expectations of God's actions and in their relationships with one another.
Ufff! When I prayed for today's devotion, I asked God, "What do you want me to write about? "The word "Patience" clearly came to my mind. When we analyze the meaning of this word, we notice that patience is a state of constant growth. You don't reach a level, and that's it! We have to keep working on our patience daily.
Bible Verse:
Let your hope keep you joyful, be patient in your troubles, and pray at all times.
Romans 12:12 (GNT)
So, there are a few critical points in this verse. First of all, have hope because it will keep you joyful. This mean don't let anything change the joy of the Lord inside of you, no circumstances, no troubles, no bad news, and no people's attitudes... Paul is giving a clear message that when you have hope yo, you keep on going because it means you are waiting for something to happen; you know the situation will change at any given time, so you don't quit, and while you wait, you enjoy the journey, you keep your joy, and you don't let anything or anyone steal it. Above all, you keep praying! Don't ever quit praying; that is the source of our lives. Our communication and connection with God is through prayer; he is our life source.
I don't know about you, sister! But when I get to that war room, GIRL! The whole atmosphere changes. I can conquer the whole world because I connect with the only one who can change anything in the blink of an eye. So, yes, I pray all the time. My devotion comes first because, through prayer, I become stronger, I receive answers from God, I receive strength, and my patience grows. When you sow in due time, you will harvest.
Patience is also a Fruit of the Spirit-qualities that are to be shown by all believers. We need to cultivate a spirit of patience to reflect God's character to others. We operate in Kronos time, so often, we want everything microwave-style, but it doesn't work that way. Furthermore, we need to learn how to take deep breaths and WAIT. God's clock doesn't work like ours, so while waiting, we keep praying, seeking God, cultivating our relationship with him, enjoying the journey, loving others, helping others, preaching the gospel, and living a life that resembles Jesus.
How To Develop Patience Biblically
When we learn to live by the spirit, to walk in the spirit,
and to act in the spirit, it becomes easier for us to
cultivate patience. Jesus said if you want to come after me,
Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow me.
Developing patience in our lives might be difficult, but it is not impossible!
Patience is a Fruit of the Spirit, which lives within us. He steps in by convicting us the moment impatience rises. Listen carefully to His still, small voice, and choose patience.
Pray daily for patience! God hears these prayers and desires patience for us. He will give us the strength and support we need.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me cultivate patience with great understanding because an individual who isn't and is quick-tempered displays foolishness. I pray that I can reflect You in all ways and that Your understanding will govern my behavior. Let patience have its way within my heart, so I can reflect God-like patience to those around me. Let Your understanding shape me, so I can reach and understand those who need You. I can use the spirit of power and self-control you have placed in me at all times to develop a godly character.
-Amen
