7 MINUTES of quiet time with God! Daily DEVOTION...
Sister! This is only the beginning of what God is doing with Emunah Woman. Are you ready? In this daily devotion, you will receive motivation, inspiration, and perhaps even answers to questions.
Have you ever felt betrayed? If you are like most of us, then the answer is a big YES! So, what happens after an episode of betrayal? Usually, we start building a wall or walls, thinking they are for our own protection. When in reality, these walls are basically throwing us into a pit, where we start feeling lonely, depressed, anxious, angry, betrayed, and the list goes on. Nonetheless, Jesus is simply trying to teach us to set boundaries instead of building walls and strongholds.
See, the enemy is so clever; he will make you think that setting up walls will always keep you protected. So, with this mentality, you shut down and cannot complete the assignment from God. You become stagnant, paralyzed in the same place. Meanwhile, the person who betrayed you is probably living the life.
What is the answer to this behavior?
How did Jesus set boundaries in the Bible?
Jesus was known for setting boundaries. He would regularly take time away from people, even when they were looking for him, to go and be alone with the Father. Can you imagine if he didn't? Can you think if he felt the need to live up to everyone's expectations of him? He would never have had time to be alone with God. There's definitely a difference between setting boundaries and being selfish.
See, when we set boundaries, we operate knowing our identity, following the example of Jesus. You become a good influencer, a good caregiver, and a leader because you have time to care about yourself. Taking that time to be a healthy person sets boundaries separating your property line from your neighbor.
I encourage you today: Don't put up a wall; instead, put up a fence. This will create limits. When you learn from the life Jesus lived, you will notice he spent a lot of time alone in prayer with the Father. He had his priorities straight! He rested, he set up boundaries, and he never burned out.
Bible Verse:
"Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?" Mark 4:38 NIV
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for making me unique! I pray for strength, courage, and the wisdom to set boundaries. I know that boundaries for our lives are meant to give us direction for our purpose. They keep us on your path—the path we were created to follow. This is why we want God to set personal boundaries for us! And NOT our own. Help me be more like you, Jesus; show me the way to live a prosperous life full of your anointing and to be able to follow your example to care for others without burning myself and always setting time apart with you.
-Amen
